Virginia Beach Before Cruise

We got up early on Jan 22 to head to Virgina Beach, VA. We left our house, about 8 hours away, and headed out to our first destination. It was cold in Kentucky when we left and was NOT suppose to get any better the further north we went. We left at 4 am so we could get there early and have a day at the Beach even though it was cold.

We were meeting my cousin, Missy and her husband Jason there as they were going with us on the cruise. This was Missy's second cruise and her husbands first cruise. We decided to meet at the beach before going to our cruise port the next day.

We arrived around 2ish and couldn't check in until 3 so we ran into a problem on our way up so we had to go get this taken care of. My wife, Missy, left her medicine at home in Kentucky and didn't have any to take. So we called the Wallgreens in Virginia Beach and they said they could fill them for her and she could pick them up at the store. So we got the address and went and picked up her medicine. We want to thank Wallgreens for the help in getting these.

We got back to the Motel, Holiday Inn Express, and my cousin wasn't far behind. We went in and got our room, put our luggage in the room and went back down and waited for them to show up. And they did was not long after we got there. They showed up around 4ish and it was good to finally get to see them again. We have had this trip planned for two years and it had finally come.

We walked on the beach but did not get into the water as it was 21 degrees outside and felt like -2 with the wind coming off that water, but it was beautiful.

We decided to walk down the boardwalk and find Mellow Mushroom to eat at. And it was a long long way and the cold made it even longer. We stopped at the Trident statue that they have on the beach there and took some pictures by it.

We FINALLY found mellow mushroom and went in to eat. Missy and I had a sub sandwich as missy and Jason had a pizza. It was so cold I said you all stay here I will go and get the car from the hotel and come back and get you all.

Once I got them in the car and warm we headed to the hotel to get showered and in bed to get ready in the morning to head to the port to get on the ship. This ended our day at virginia beach and 1st day of vacation.
